The New Venue Forum!

After a hugely successful and busy First Night at The Westward Inn, I chatted to a lot of folk about it...

One member thought it was a delightfully old-fashioned atmosphere and that the Function room had an atmosphere redolent of the late sixties and early seventies when many of us first started attending clubs - but ( as one singer said ) "Thank God, not with the old-fashioned smokey atmosphere!"

Another factor that came out was that although many of us enjoyed the sometimes mystically foggy journey across Dartmoor, the new venue was a lot easier to get to. Another member said "It's a bit nearer to civilisation!" I, personally, will miss the journeys of a summer's evening along the moorland slopes... but we found that Lee Mill was a quicker journey.

A well known bearded performer of a nautical persuasion thought that the vital ingredient of a club is the audience. The room was crammed full on the opening night and everyone was both supportive and enthusiastic in terms of the songs and joining-in. Let's hope we can continue to attract plenty of people.

Not being a singer myself, I asked several folk about the acoustics. There seemed to be a general feeling that they were fine and that there was a good contact with the audience with the way the room was laid out.

Finally those there seemed to be saying that our hosts were excellent... friendly, accomodating and welcoming. And they're ( silly joke for those present ) in contact with a reputable electrician!

So... continue to support live music as we march on in a further chapter of life at Folk On The Moor!
